Merge PDF Files Online for Free

Combine PDF files into a single document, completely free. Add your files, preview their pages, remove the pages you do not need, put the files in the order you want and download the merged PDF. It works in your browser, so your files are never uploaded to a server.

Why use this tool

Private by design

The merge happens inside your browser. Your PDFs stay on your device and are never sent to Exam1st or anyone else.

See every page before you merge

Open the page previews of any file to check it is the right one, and click a page to leave it out of the merged PDF. Useful for removing a cover page, a blank page or pages you do not need.

Free, no sign-up

No account, no watermark and no page limit imposed by us. Just add files and merge.

Keeps quality

Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable and images are not recompressed.

Works on phones

Use it on a phone, tablet or computer. Large files need more memory, so very big merges are easier on a computer.

When is it useful?

  • Join a past paper and its marking scheme into one file for printing.
  • Combine several years of the same subject into a single revision pack.
  • Remove cover pages, instructions pages or blank pages while you merge.
  • Merge scanned pages or assignment parts before sending them to a teacher.
  • Put application documents (certificates, ID, forms) into one PDF for a job or scholarship application.

Frequently asked questions

Is this PDF merger really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark added to your file and no payment. The tool runs in your browser, so it costs us nothing to run for you.

Are my PDF files uploaded anywhere?

No. The files are read and merged on your own device using your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe to use with private documents.

How do I change the order of the files?

After adding your files, use the up and down arrows next to each file. The merged PDF follows the order shown in the list, from top to bottom.

Can I remove pages before merging?

Yes. Press "Pages" next to a file to see small previews of every page. Click a page to leave it out, or type page numbers such as 1, 3-5 in the box and press Remove. Removed pages are not included in the merged PDF, and your original file is not changed.

Why do I not see page previews?

Previews need a fairly recent browser. If your device cannot show them, the tool still merges your files, and you can still remove pages by typing their numbers.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

Not directly. A PDF that needs a password to open cannot be read by the tool. Remove the password first (for example by opening it and saving a copy without protection), then merge it.

Is there a limit on file size or number of files?

You can add up to 30 files at a time. Because everything happens in your browser, the practical limit is your device memory. If a very large merge fails, merge in smaller groups and then merge the results.

Will merging reduce the quality of my PDF?

No. Pages are copied into the new file without being recompressed, so text and images look the same as in the originals. The merged file is roughly the combined size of the originals.
