Split PDF and Extract Pages Online for Free

Take a PDF apart, completely free. Extract just the pages you need into a new file, split a PDF by page ranges, or cut it into equal parts. You can see every page before you decide. It works in your browser, so your file is never uploaded to a server.

How to use Split PDF

  1. Click "Choose a PDF file" or drag your PDF into the box.
  2. Pick a mode. "Extract pages" keeps the pages you click or type, "Split by ranges" makes one file for each range such as 1-3, 4-6, and "Every N pages" cuts the PDF into equal parts.
  3. Press the button to create your files. Download each file, or download them all together as a ZIP.

Why use this tool

Choose pages by looking at them

Every page is shown as a small preview. Click the pages you want, or type page numbers if the PDF is long.

Three ways to split

Extract chosen pages into one PDF, split by page ranges into several PDFs, or split every N pages. Use whichever matches the job.

Private by design

The split happens inside your browser. Your PDF stays on your device and is never sent to Exam1st or anyone else.

Keeps quality

Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable and images are not recompressed.

Free, no sign-up

No account, no watermark and no payment. Download single files or one ZIP with everything.

When is it useful?

  • Take Paper II or the essay paper out of a PDF that has several papers combined.
  • Separate the marking scheme from a past paper PDF that has both in one file.
  • Cut a scanned textbook or notes PDF into chapters.
  • Send only the pages that are asked for in a job or scholarship application, which also keeps the file small.
  • Split a large PDF into smaller parts so it is easier to upload or share.

Frequently asked questions

Is this PDF splitter free?

Yes, it is completely free to use. There is no sign-up, no watermark on your files and no payment, and you can split as many PDFs as you like. It runs in your browser, so there is no per-file charge.

How do I extract specific pages from a PDF?

Choose your PDF, keep the "Extract pages" mode, then click the pages you want in the previews, or type page numbers such as 1, 3-5 and press Select. Press the Extract button and download the new PDF with only those pages.

What is the difference between extracting and splitting?

Extracting puts all the pages you choose together in one new PDF. Splitting cuts the PDF into several separate files, either by page ranges you type or by a fixed number of pages per file.

How do I split a PDF into several files?

Use "Split by ranges" and type the ranges separated by commas, for example 1-3, 4-6, 7. Each range becomes its own PDF. Or use "Every N pages" to make equal parts. When there is more than one file you can download them all in one ZIP.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and split on your own device using your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe to use with private documents.

Will splitting reduce the quality of my PDF?

No. Pages are copied into the new files without being recompressed, so text and images look the same as in the original.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Not directly. A PDF that needs a password to open cannot be read by the tool. Remove the password first, then split it.

Is there a limit on the file size or number of pages?

There is no page limit set by us, and a single run can create up to 100 files. Because everything happens in your browser, the practical limit is your device memory, so very large PDFs are easier on a computer than on a phone.

Why do I not see page previews?

Previews need a fairly recent browser. If your device cannot show them, the tool still works and you can choose pages by typing their numbers.
